Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United will play Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League. The Barclays Premier League champions have been drawn to play in Germany in the first leg at the end of March, with the return match at Old Trafford a week later.
The draw is a replay of the 1999 final when Man U won in the dying minutes. Arsenal will hope to take revenge on Barca for beating them in the 2006 final in Paris. The tie sees Thierry Henry take on his former club, with the first match at the Emirates stadium in London.
In the other quarter finals, Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan, who beat Chelsea this week, will face CSKA Moscow while the other tie sees two French teams, Lyons and Bordeaux, do battle.
If Man U beat Bayern, they will face one of the French sides in the semis, while should Arsenal defeat Pep Guardiola’ s Barca they will play either Inter or CSKA Moscow.
The first leg quarter finals will be played on March 30th/31st and the return legs a week later. The final is in Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium on May 22nd, the first time the game has been played on a Saturday.
