Marketing Society seeks new council members

Elections for four new members of the Marketing Society council for the upcoming 2020 term will open in early November. The elections for this new term come with the retiring of four current council members from the general panel and are open to those working across Irish marketing. The elections do not include positions on the research panel.

Newly-elected council members will take a proactive role in shaping and informing the debate within the marketing and market research industry. New council members are obliged to ensure the effective running of the society by attending monthly meetings, organising members’ events and committing to a three-year term of office as from next January.

Current Marketing Society chair Chris Upton (above) said the elections offer members a platform to express their interest for the industry while giving them a chance to lead the direction of marketing in Ireland. “I’d encourage members to take the time to consider running for election and help sustain an industry of which we can be proud,” Upton said.

Those wishing to run for the elections must be a society member and be backed by another member on their nomination form. Voting by members starts on Wednesday November 27 and will remain open until Wednesday, December 11. Successful nominees will be notified by December 14 and the results will be announced on Friday, December 16.

Those retiring from the council are Upton, Havas; treasurer Peter McPartlin, PlayIrish; Geraldine O’Leary, RTÉ and Cliona Hayes, Indeed. Details of the election process and the nomination form are available at marketingsociety.ie. Those wishing to go forward for election, must complete the form before the deadline at noon on Friday, November 22.
