Readers of the Metro Herald have voted Dublin Simon Community as charity of the year for 2011. The homeless charity will be gifted €80,000 worth of advertising in the Dublin freesheet to publicise their awareness and fundraising campaigns after being selected by the paper’s Urban Life panel.

Dublin Simon was founded over 40 years ago and today works with about 2,500 people a year, either experiencing or in danger of being made homeless. The help is provided through soup runs, outreach, emergency accommodation, supported housing, treatment services and resettlement.
