BBDO Dublin has appointed Shane O’Brien as executive creative director in place of Dylan Cotter who left the agency to head up Deloitte’s new Acne agency in Ireland. O’Brien joined BBDO in December in a full-time capacity having previously freelanced. He was previously at Guns or Knives and Rothco where he won a Cannes Lion for the ‘A Shred of Decency’ campaign.
O’Brien’s work has been recognised at Cannes, Epica, Eurobest, London International Awards, One Show, Kinsale Sharks, ICAD, ADFX and the Webbies to name a few. Along with Colm O’Gaora and Rob Murray, he formed the interim creative leadership triumvirate who led agency’s creative department following Cotter’s recent departure.
The O’Brien appointment annoucement coincides with the news this week that four BBDO teams have been shortlisted in the Cannes Young Lions competition. Six agency clients have also been shortlisted for this year’s Marketing Institute’s AIMs awards. On the recruitment side, former Chemistry creative director Robert Boyle has joined the agency.
