IAPI appoints Geraldine Jones to its board

Publicis Dublin business director Geraldine Jones has been appointed to the board of the agency representative body, the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI). With 20 years’ agency experience, Jones started her career in CDP Associates, having obtained a first class honours BSc from TCD in business management and marketing.

Jones moved to Publicis in 2000 and after six years spent two years in Young Euro RSCG, now Havas Dublin, before returning to Publicis in 2008 and joining the agency’s senior management team. Last November, she came within one vote of joining the IAPI board. In line with IAPI’s articles of association, she replaces Ray Sheerin following his resignation.

Sheerin served on the board for over three years, spearheading the work that resulted in the creation of the IAPI pitch guidelines which are now widely used across the industry as a best practice guide to choosing an agency.  In 2019, he was also the instigator and brains of the Ireland before agency initiative for the LGBTQI+ charity, BeLonG To.

The 16-agency effort resulted in an increase in schools taking part in StandUp week.

The IAPI board comprises 12 board members, all of whom are non-executive directors from member agencies, except for the CEO, Charley Stoney. The remaining 11 also include Shenda Loughnane, president, IAPI and group managing director, Dentsu Aegis; John Mathews, treasurer, IAPI and financial controller at In the Company of Huskies.

The remainder of the IAPI board comprises…

Gemma Gilmore, business director, Spark Foundry; Mark Nutley, creative partner, Goosebump; Charlotte Barker, deputy MD, Dynamo; Fiona Field, deputy MD, Mediaworks; Abi Moran, CEO, JWT Folk; Margaret Gilsenan, co-founder and strategy director, Boys + Girls; Sean Hynes, creative director, Bonfire and Jonathan Conlon, COO, Group M.
