Sarah O’Connor is to become head of sport at Wilson Hartnell Public Relations (WHPR). She joins from the Federation of Irish Sport (FIS), where she was chief executive for the past eight years. She replaces Máire Scully who left the agency to pursue other interests. Scully first joined WHPR in 2001 and five years later got the sports marketing and sponsorship job.
A qualified solicitor, O’Connor oversaw the development of the FIS membership, increased turnover, the development of Governmental and commercial partnerships and directed the ‘Why Irish Sport Matters’ campaign aimed at promoting the impact of sport nationally. WHPR’s sports and sponsorship clients include AIB, An Post and Liberty Insurance.
