Tony O’Brien, former environment correspondent of the Irish Independent and managing director of PR agency Tony O’Brien Communications, has written his first book, Going Green – The Irish Guide to Living a Greener Life. O’Brien is also involved with Steve Rawson on The Communications Partnership venture.
Published by Liberties Press, the book provides a guide to green issues such as climate change, energy, planning, transport, waste and recycling. O’Brien inspected waste incinerators in Copenhagen, talked with Norwegian whale fishermen above the Arctic Circle and visited the Sellafield plant.
O’Brien said writing the book for him personally was the fulfilment of a 30-year ambition. It is not intended to be an all-encompassing tome, or a piece of serious research. Rather he intended it as a handy guide to the state of the environment and what individuals can do to help sustain it.
