Bunker shot: Dialogue Marketing used Bruno Ganz’s role as Adolf Hitler in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s Downfall to great effect in its video for agency of the year at the An Post Direct Marketing Awards.
RMG Target, the below the line division of the DDDFH&B group, again proved itself as the major force in direct marketing services in Ireland by winning seven golds and being crowned the agency of the year for the fifth year in a row at the An Post Direct Marketing Awards which were presented at a gala dinner in the Mansion House last night. RTE presenter Dave Fanning was the master of ceremonies.
The Ballsbridge agency won golds for the Bord Gáis Big Switch and campaigns for Diageo, An Post and Aviva. Acorn Marketing picked up three golds for campaigns for Eircom Business, eBay Holidays and 3 Mobile. DirectBrand and Dialogue each won two golds and Refresh, Spark Marketing, Tequila, TiCo and Leanne Papaioannou’s Chilli Pepper Marketing were the other gold winners.
Ignition won gold for the best first time user for the Fitzwilliam Casino & Card Club.
There were four contenders for agency of the year, namely Acorn Marketing, Dialogue, Strategem and RMG Target. Movies played a role in the agency videos, with Dialogue using its own subtitles on Hitler’s tantrums in Downfall and Strategem’s Keith Lee somehow playing the game show contestant in Slumdog Millionaire.
Data Conversion Direct was honoured with the supplier of the year award. While a party atmosphere raged into the early hours, the awards night passed without incident.
