Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees pop group will be the keynote speaker at the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) annual seminar next Tuesday at the Radisson Hotel on Golden Lane in Dublin. The conference theme is ‘Radio: Stayin’ Alive’ and independent stations owners, management and broadcasters are due to attend.
Gibb will speak as president of the International Confederation of Authors & Composers Societies on music creators’ rights in a digital age. David Sneddon, managing director of Mindshare Ireland, will speak on what radio stations sell and what clients want to buy. He will discuss how media agencies work, plan and audit.
John Stockley, Ipsos Global Media and Damien Loscher of Ipsos mrbi, the agency which conducts the Joint National Listenership Report (JNLR), will speak about who’s listening to radio, technology and research. Heather Ostertag will talk about how musicians and broadcasters are working in harmony in Canada.
Marketing.ie columnist Dr Kevin Rafter will lead a panel discussion on the regulator’s position and the public perception on political advertising. He will be joined by Labour TD Liz McManus and Mandy Johnston, former government press secretary who now heads up PR and marcoms at the Irish League of Credit Unions.
