Sky adds UKTV’s Watch

Sky Media Ireland (SMI) now handles sales of UKTV’s Watch entertainment channel. Watch premieres “out-of-the-ordinary programming”, including fantasy and sci-fi dramas such as Grimm, Beauty and the Beast, Primeval: New World, Perception and Sanctuary. It showcases series like Doctor Who, Torchwood and Paranormal Witness. It commissioned the multi-award winning Dynamo Magician Impossible.

Formed in 1997, UKTV is an independent commercial joint venture between BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, and Scripps Networks International. With Watch on board, SMI now represents 24 channels with dedicated Irish advertising feeds. Richard Kelly (pictured), sales director, SMI, says Watch strengthens the Sky channel offering as fragmentation continues to challenge more conventional audiences.
