Sky Ireland suspends sports sub payments

Sky Ireland has announced that home subscribers to its Sky Sports service will be able to put payments on pause during the current Covid-19 coronavirus public health emergency. The company has also confirmed that pubs and other businesses will not be charged for their subscriptions “until a live sport schedule returns” in the coming months.

Following a Government directive, pubs will have no revenue until at least March 29.

The spread of Covid-19 has seen the suspension of all Premier League and English Football League fixtures until at least April 3. With the postponement of the next three PGA Tour events and the US Masters, along with suspensions in cricket and Formula One, Sky Sports has no live events to show. The nine channels are showing re-runs and 24-hour news.
