TV3 has signed a partnership deal with Sony International to secure the naming rights for the new TV3 HD studio. The Japanese giant will provide the latest in high definition camera and support equipment for the new studio in Ballymount which was completed in July. The 500-square metre facility will be known as the Sony HD Studio Dublin. The design was based on best international practice by broadcasters like the BBC and Sky.
Pat Kiely, commercial director, TV3, said the new studio will be used to enhance current studio output, as well as producing a raft of new shows for the TV3 and 3e schedule, and international markets. Kiely said TV is a worldwide business and the Sony deal launches the new HD studio into a global production market.
The deal was agreed in London recently. The studio is due to be operating before the end of the year.
