It is understood SSE Airtricity is to move its media buying and planning from Carat to OMD until the end of next June. Carat had handled the the Scottish energy provider on an interim basis. The Aegis agency worked in tandem with OMD in the UK but had openly declared an interest in pitching for rival energy provider, Bord Gáis Energy (BGE), if and when it came up for review. Carat already handled Bord Gáis Networks which was not seen as a conflict.
Mindshare retained the BGE account.
SSE Airtricity is currently engaged in a “pre-qualification process” as part of a regulated tender. A number of media agencies were invited to pitch for the business but it is not known which agencies that had expressed an interest in presenting for the business intend to continue to participate in the process. Marketing.ie made contact with SSE Airtricity’s procurement department about the media review but was met with a firm “no comment”.
