Sun goes with good news edition

News UK & Ireland plans a publishing first on Monday when it brings out an edition of the Irish Sun featuring only good news stories. As fears of a no-deal Brexit increase, Rupert Murdoch’s red top plans to include “inspiring and inspirational stories that will give readers a lot to smile about!” The entire tabloid will be given over to delivering good news.

Stories that will run in Monday’s special edition include how hundreds of kind-hearted strangers sent birthday cards to a four-year-old boy, after his mother contacted the Irish Sun to say he hadn’t received any. Witness the joy of a child whose  winning entry for the Barnardo’s Big Toddle colouring competition was transformed into a full-size billboard.

Irish Sun editor Kieran McDaid said readers can find out how crime-riven neighbourhoods are fighting back and how innovative businesses plan to triumph post-Brexit. There will be interviews from the world of showbiz and a guide to boosting happiness. “The edition is a celebration of uplifting stories, a chance  to focus on the brighter side of life,” McDaid added.
