OgilvyOne’s executive creative director Rory Sutherland returns to Ireland next month to address the Irish Management Institute (IMI) annual conference. A regular visitor to Dublin in recent years, he has spoken at IAPI Adfx events and the Dalkey Book Festival. An inspiring and charismatic speaker, he has some memorable insights for marketers in his repertoire.
IMI’s guest speaker line up also includes Yves Morieux and Jim McGuinness. Morieux is managing director at the Boston Consulting Group and McGuinness is the former Donegal football manager who is now a performance consultant at Glasgow Celtic FC. Thimon de Jong founder and director at the Whetson strategic foresight agency will also speak.
A senior partner in BCG’s Washington D.C. office and director of the BCG Institute for Organisation, Morieux will talk about his experience and approach in advising large corporations on restructuring their pillars of management to maximize employee motivation and engagement. Following six golden rules, Morieux’s approach, called ‘Smart Simplicity’, encourages employees to co-operate to solve long-term problems and promote engagement.
McGuinness will draw on his experience in top-level sports management and sports psychology to talk about leadership insights and the lessons he has learned in developing and managing top talent. McGuinness, who masterminded the Donegal’s All-Ireland win in 2012, supported golfer Paul McGinley in managing the 2014 Ryder Cup team.
The conference theme is ‘Reinventing Organisations – Rethinking Leadership’. Over 250 of Ireland’s top executives are expected to attended the event which is sponsored by Eir and will take place at the IMI campus in Sandyford on Thursday, October 8.
