The president and chief executive of the Institute for Public Relations (IPR) in the US, Dr Tina McCorkindale, will speak at the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) ’20:20 Vision’ annual conference next month. Her talk will be about the various issues around technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI) in PR, over the coming decade.
McCorkindale will explore what this means for the skill sets and knowledge needed by PR professionals now and in the future. She has a long and extensive career in corporate communications and research with Cymfony, Vision Technologies and Cision. She has worked with various clients across IT, insurance, pharma, transport and finance industries.
As CEO of IPR, McCorkindale oversees academic research into business communication and the practical application of research findings. She is an advocate of a scientific approach to measurement and the inclusion of behavioural sciences in PR. Her research focuses on social media, with a particular emphasis on mobile tech, engagement and reputation.
A resident of Seattle, McCorkindale has more than 30 academic publications to her credit including the Public Relations Review, Journal of New Communications Research and the Journal of Social Media in Society. She has taught in several universities including Cal Poly, the University of Vermont and Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok.
