The downturn in the economy has seen an increase in consumer demand for bargain vouchers and money-saving coupons with 64 per cent now using such price-saving devices when out shopping or going for credit crunch lunches or early bird specials, a report by new Irish website Voucherworld.com claims.
As many as 53 per cent of the consumers interviewed said they would not have been bothered with money-off vouchers up to three years ago when the Irish economy was in good staid and disposable income was plentiful. The survey also indicated that most Irish families will holiday at home this year.
“The threat of further volcanic ash cloud disruptions and the World Cup in South Africa are reasons why Irish people will holiday at home this summer,” Voucherworld.com founder Donal O Corcráin said. “There will be a desire to get value for accommodation, food, shopping and outdoor activities.”
O Corcráin said that only then will these consumers feel better for having to endure the occasional shower and they may even consider Ireland for their next holiday. Voucherworld.com offers printable vouchers and discounts and businesses can advertise their price offers free of charge.
