Kenny Jacobs of Ryanair

Kenny Jacobs, chief marketing officer, Ryanair

Aldi This is a very good ad about supporting local Irish producers. It has the right tone and tells the story through the local GAA team which doubles up their connecting with the community message. Low enough production values which is smart use of marketing spend. More authentic and smarter than the SuperValu and Tesco ads on supporting Irish food.

Carrolls Ham – Well made rip-off of the Bulmer’s/Magners ads a few years back. The agency should work harder to be innovative and the client should know better.

Hunky Dorys – for a product that is mostly bought by men, this is a great ad. Funny and continues their creative vein of a bit of laddish Benny Hill-type smut.

Irish Rail TV Ad

Irish Rail I really liked this ad. It really captures a moment you see on Irish trains. Low cost production and well made. The €15 is a bit unbelievable, but we’ll let them off that.

Meteor good retail ad on switching and saving. It takes on 02 on value for money (which is easy enough to do) and also gets in a choice message on the range of 4G handsets. Nicely reinforced with the in-store and online messaging.

M&S what can I say other than the best bit of visual food porn I have seen in ages. Trans times were very well selected targeting the right audience rather than just the quantity of OTS and TVR’s.

O2 the chronicles of Narnia meets an expensive mobile network brand that has lost its way. I was never a fan of the ‘be on this network and you will be cooler’ creative route. It’s little wonder they are losing share.

SuperValu well made ad but I think they are communicating to their franchisees to make them feel good rather than their customers.

TK MAXX I really like this ad. Great track and it shows TK can be cool and is no longer the shop for bargain hunters and has become the shop of smart fashionistas.

Ryanair what can I say, value for money production and great media planning and through the line integration. We rock… since you ask.
