Boys+Girls and its client Three Ireland tackled the constraints of filming during lockdown with its new ‘Monster Hunter’ TV spot. The ad, with a granddad helping his grandson find a monster in his bedroom, announces the permanent removal of usage limits for all customers on All You Can Eat data, making Three Ireland’s first and only network to do so.
The ad was written, presented, filmed and produced remotely. Direction was by Tom Merilion of Speers Films, from his home in France. The cast and their families shot their respective parts in their homes using custom-built self-shooting rigs. Windmill Lane handled the post with all parties attending edits, grade, VFX and VO sessions via video conference.
The granddad role is played by Irish stage and screen actor John Olohan.
