The Advertising Standards Authority (ASAI) is extending its digital remit to include marketing communications on advertisers’ profile pages and other non-paid-for space online, under advertisers’ control. The new remit comes into effect from the start of January. There will be a three-month grace period when the ASAI will investigate complaints but will not refer them to the independent complaints committee for formal adjudication.
In announcing its remit extension, the ASAI also developed a guidance note for interested parties on how the extension will be applied. A new document sets out and explains the new remit.
