Ben Dunne signs up to The Irish Sun

Ben Dunne, the former Dunnes Stores director who now runs a chain of gyms and fitness clubs, is to write a weekly consumer column for The Irish Sun every Saturday. News International said the move was part of its ‘Value Campaign’ to help Irish consumers.
Dunne has long been a colourful character in Irish media. After his cocaine-taking, prostitute-hiring episode in Florida he has rarely been out of the news. During the last Lisbon referendum he urged people uncertain about how to vote to “if you don’t know, vote No”.
In a recent interview with Joe Duffy on Liveline on RTE Radio 1, he said that he planned to save money by doing away with the swimming pools and saunas at his gyms and develop them as ‘dry’ clubs similar to the model adopted by a large German group.
