The Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) and ICAD will replace Ogilvy in staging the Portfolio events for young creatives, IAPI chief executive Tania Banotti (above left) has confirmed. The two bodies will jointly run the events under the title Portfolio Lab. First devised by the Toronto-based ihaveanidea.org advertising archive 11 years ago, Portfolio made its debut in Ireland in 2010 and ran in 40 cities worldwide.
The concept allows creatives review the work of students, emerging creatives and freelancers in a ‘speed-dating’ setting. It is intended to help emerging talent break into adland. Each participant gets three 15-minute portfolio review sessions with three of Ireland’s top creative directors who advise them on how they can improve their work. The first Portfolio Lab will take place in The Irish Times on Wednesday, May 29.
