KBC sees creative pitches

KBC Bank has invited five agencies to make creative presentations. The bank’s head of brand and marketing Aidan Power (pictured), who joined the company from EBS Building Society last year and is the new president of the Association of Advertisers in Ireland (AAI), has lined up three Dublin agencies – Boys and Girls, Chemistry and DDFH&B – along with Amsterdam shop KesselsKramer and London-based Enter.

Owens DDB has handled KBC’s work in recent years. In its TV ads, a geeky, Mr Bean-type gentleman is seen finding himself the focus of a beautiful woman’s attention in a Luas station. But what transpires is that her interest is targeted at a KBC poster offering attractive rates. A storyline develops along the lines of will-they-or-won’t-they get together. Power said a decision on the review is due by the end of the summer.
