Learman to head up OMA judges

Hollywood style: Paddy Power have run what they claim is the world’s longest free-standing billboard on Cleeve Hill overlooking this week’s Cheltenham race festival. The sign is 270 ft long.

Simon Learman, executive creative director, McCann Erickson London, is to head up the 23rd Outdoor Advertising Awards. The awards, organised by the Outdoor Media Association (OMA), will be presented on Thursday April 22nd. Learman has worked for VW, Guinness, Sony, Heinz, Philips, UPS and Vodafone.

Joining Learman on this year’s OMA judging panel are Aidan Greene, managing director, MediaVest; Brian Swords, president of  IAPI and managing director, Cawley NeaTBWA and Catherine Donnelly, freelance copywriter and author, whose award-winning work includes Ryanair and Barry’s Tea.

Diamantis Economou, marketing director, Reckitt Benckiser Ireland; James Barry, president, OMA and managing director, Bravo Outdoor and Stephen Lamb, media director, Fire IMC, are also on the judging panel.

The judges will adjudicate on four categories – grand prix, best outdoor campaign, best poster design, best industry newcomer poster design and most innovative campaign.
