Newstalk brings back comedy news panel show

Newstalk has announced the return of comedy news panel You Couldn’t Make It Up to its weekend schedule. The irreverent 10-part weekly half-hour show starts this Saturday. Recorded in front of a live studio audience, the show is co-produced and hosted by veteran broadcaster Pat O’Mahony and features various Irish stand-ups divided into teams of two.

The broadcast sponsor is Tesco Ireland.

Each team will analyse, fillet and ridicule the week’s Irish and international headlines as well as less well known offbeat stories. As the show progresses, the selected duo will assemble three key elements for a comic sketch which they will perform as the climax to the show. Guests comics include Karl Spain (above), Sharon Mannion, Paddy Courtney and Joe Rooney.

Recorded at Tramline in Dublin city centre, the series runs on at 9.30am on Saturdays until March 23. You Couldn’t Make It Up is a Firebrand production funded by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund. Firebrand, founded in 2008 by Mark Warren and Christine Thornton, has made ads for OwensDDB clients VW, Friends First and The Irish Times.
