Sky Sports News HD is being added to the Sky Media Ireland (SMI) channel portfolio. Sky Sports News HD rolls out breaking sports news and updates 24/7. The development gives Irish advertisers access to an audience viewing sports news in up to five times more picture detail. SMI says Sky HD customers are more likely to be affluent, with an average family income five per cent higher than the average pay TV home.
TGI research indicates they are also more likely to have a higher weekly grocery spend and live in a larger house. SMI now represents 31 channels with dedicated Irish advertising feeds, or opt-outs. SMI sales director Richard Kelly says the Sky Sports News HD opt-out strengthen the Sky offer, which also includes Sky1, Sky Atlantic, MTV, Dave, Sky Sports 1 and 2, Sky News, Discovery and Nickelodeon.
