BSkyB has appointed Slattery Communications to handle its public relations work in Ireland following a competitive pitch. The business was previously with Edelman. Slatterys is run by founder Padraig Slattery and has a track record in sports marketing. It counts the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) among its clients. The agency has also worked on projects for Manchester United FC and handles Puma sportswear nationally.
Slattery’s other clients include Munster Rugby sponsor Toyota, Allianz, Meteor, Molson Coors and Rehab.
Earlier this year, BSkyB awarded the creative advertising for the launch of its broadband and telephony services in Ireland to London agency WCRS. The agency was chosen because of its work in launching Sky Broadband in the UK. Dublin agencies Boys and Girls, Cawley NeaTBWA, Chemistry and Ogilvy also pitched.
A BSkyB spokesman at the time said that the company intends to continue to hire Dublin agencies.
The Sky+ app was last night named best entertainment app and best tablet app at the annual Appy awards in Dublin. The Sky+ app has been downloaded over 3.6 million times in the UK and Ireland. It allows customers to set their box to record content over the next seven days from their smartphone or tablet.
