Dublin team drops sponsor's logo

The Dublin football team will line out in their blue shirts in their  first competitive game of the season against Wexford this Sunday without a logo pending the completion of its sponsorship deal with Vodafone.

The mobile giant is due to replace Arnotts as the Dublin sponsor for the next six years. The deal is said to be worth €800,000 a year initially rising later to €1 million.

Vodafone competed with Meteor and Ikea for the Dublin contract. It was thought that Meteor were forced to pull out of the sponsorship negotiations by owner Eircom.
