Ervia appoints Publicis and OMD

State utilities group Ervia has appointed two new agencies to handle its advertising, Publicis Dublin for creative services and OMD to handle its media buying and planning, after a lengthy review. Eight agencies had pitched for the business, which comprises Irish Water and Gas Networks Ireland. The creative incumbent, Rothco Accenture Interactive, did not re-pitch.

On the media buying and planning side, the contest involved GroupM’s Mindshare, Havas, Omnicom-owned OMD and the incumbent, Dentsu Aegis Network’s Carat. Mindshare has been the media agency for Centrica’s Bord Gáis Energy (BGE) for many years. On the creative front, Publicis saw off competition from BBDO Dublin, JWT Folk and TBWA\Dublin.

JWT Folk was last year appointed to handle BGE in Ireland as part of an international alignment. Publicis had the account for many years and later won Flogas, which JWT Folk had resigned. TBWA\Dublin worked for Electric Ireland before its move to Rothco.

The review was managed by Claire Cluskey’s Empirica working to chief communications and marketing officer Orlaith Blaney and group head of brand and marketing Mark Grehan.
