Hair-raising antics at Today FM

Today FM

Ian Dempsey, Matt Cooper and Ray D’Arcy prepare for the Shave or Dye charity fundraiser

Today FM will be undergoing a major makeover on February 18th when its presenters take part in a hair shave or dye fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society. Ian Dempsey, Mario Rosenstock, Ray D’Arcy, Matt Cooper and Phil Cawley will be among those jumping in the salon chair and getting their hair shaved or dyed.

It appears the changes will go beyond ash blonde; more like psychedelic pink or blue. The event will be broadcast live on the Ray D’Arcy Show from a secret location and video streamed on www.todayfm.com

The presenters will begin appealing for sponsorship next Monday. Today FM wants the public to host their own Shave or Dye events by getting friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them. They hope to raise €200,000 for cancer research and care.

The latest data from the National Cancer Registry of Ireland indicates that 27,900 new cases of cancer were diagnosed in 2007. Figures released by the CSO shows that 7,844 people died from cancer in 2007.

People can donate by texting Shave to 57080.  For more, log on to www.todayfm.com/shaveordye
