Marketer of the Year shortlist announced

If the shortlist for Marketer of the Year 2014 is anything to go by, retail appears to be making a comeback. It has been announced this year’s three finalists are SuperValu’s Ray Kelly, Matthias Wenk, Lidl and Paul Candon, Topaz Energy. The trio will soon present for interviews with the award judges. The winner will then be announced at a lunch in Fade Street Social restaurant on Thursday, November 20.

Marketer of the Year is about recognising and honouring individual marketing excellence in Ireland, specifically for work done in the past two years. The person is someone who through strategy, innovation, communications and impact on the marketplace has made their brand, product or service an outstanding success. Last year’s winner was Peter McKenna for his work in developing the GAA and Croke Park brands.

The entries are judged by an expert panel, chaired by Damien McLoughlin (pictured), professor of marketing at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. First launched by Marketing in 1993, the award has been sponsored by Alternatives since 2007.
