Paddy Power makes mischief around big game

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have engaged in some more mischief as Ireland takes on England in the Six Nations rugby at the Aviva Stadium this weekend. The bookies erected four giant posters across different locations in and around the capital to stir up some pre-match banter between two of the most famous rivals in the tournament.

Also, given that there’s been a dramatic surge in the number of applications from UK citizens eligible for Irish passports due to Brexit, Paddy Power transformed their Baggot Street retail store into Paddy Power’s Passport Office, to make sure English fans leave with a consolation prize if – and hopefully when – Ireland win the game on Saturday.

“Between the latest Brexit developments and the accusation made by Eddie Jones’ assistant coach John Mitchell earlier this week that Ireland would attempt to ‘bore the s***’ out of England, Paddy Power decided to step in and make sure that their visit to Dublin will be anything but dull as they arrive,” a spokesperson for Paddy Power said.

“Plus, they’ve being boring the s*** out of us with their Brexit waffle ever since the referendum,” she added. The signs are placed at prime locations near Grand Canal Dock, Baggot Street, Donnybrook and Ballsbridge. Brand ambassador Simon Zebo will pay a visit to PP’s ‘passport office’ for a special preview of the match tomorrow afternoon.
