Devaney to chair IAPI’s first Effies

Marketing doyen Damian Devaney will chair the inaugural Effie awards organised by the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI). The Effies are replacing Adfx, Ireland’s premier awards for advertising effectiveness. Devaney runs DSquared and TBV Global. He was group VP marketing and communications at Smurfit Kappa for almost six years.

He also held senior marketing roles at 02, Coca-Cola, Bank of Ireland and Diageo.

Neal Davies, chief executive, BBDO Dublin, chaired the European jury for the  2019 Global Effie Awards. Effie is a global non-profit whose mission is to lead way for marketing effectiveness. Effie champions the practice and practitioners of marketing effectiveness through education, awards, ever-evolving initiatives and first-class insights into marketing strategies that produce results.

The organisation recognises the most effective brands, marketers and agencies, globally, regionally and locally through its 50 or more award programmes worldwide and through its effectiveness rankings, the Effie Index. Since 1968, Effie is known as global symbol of achievement, while serving as a resource to steer the future of marketing success.

The first Effies for Ireland will be presented next year.
