Dervan gets new CMO role at National Lottery

Paul Dervan has been appointed by Premier Lotteries Ireland as the chief marketing officer (CMO) for the National Lottery. The newly-created role will see Dervan take charge of all marketing activity, including brand development and effectiveness, in which he is a specialist. The lottery’s marketing manager Michael Hayes will report into Dervan.

Dervan (above centre) has worked in marketing recruitment with both US company Indeed and, more recently, Alternatives. At Indeed, he was senior director for global brand strategy and ran the company’s marketing campaign lab. His other previous posts include creative director for gambling brand Full Tilt and brand director for Telefonica’s 02 in the UK.

A graduate of both UCD and TCD, he also worked as a marketing consultant for creative agency In the Company of Huskies and in search marketing at Interactive Return, the agency which later merged with Captivate to become Radical and part of the Core group of companies. He was part of last year’s Marketer of the Year judging panel.

It is expected that the National Lottery ad review will get underway again soon.
