Love Irish Food launches Double Up awards

As Ireland faces a major economic challenge in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic and ahead of what may prove a damaging Brexit, Love Irish Food (LIF) has partnered with Core and Media Central to try and help Irish food and drink brand owners command more consumer attention by launching a new awards competition offering free radio airtime.

The Double Up awards will see five food producers double their airtime in 2021. They will have their bought radio spend of €40,000 in the first quarter of next year doubled in free air time in the second quarter across eight Media Central stations, including Today FM and Newstalk. The stations claim a weekly audience of over two million listeners.

LIF, Core and Media Central will work with the winners to plan their campaigns. The award is open to LIF members and non-members. To enter the competition, Irish food producers are invited to outline in 1,500 words or less why their campaign should be considered for one of the awards, by making a sound business and marketing case.

To enter the competition, brand owners should register at http://www.loveirishfood.ie before 5.30pm on Friday, July 24 2020. They must then submit the completed entry form online before 5.30pm on Friday, August 28 2020. The award judges are LIF’s Kieran Rumley (above), Core’s Eddie O’Mahony and Gavin Deans, Media Central.

The five winners are expected to be announced by the end of September.
